EJF Programs

EJF has brought together the foremost rabbinic leaders from across the spectrum in setting standards for a universally accepted conversion in intermarriage. It has organized a series of conferences in the U.S. and Israel as a forum for halachic authorities to outline the standards for a universally accepted conversion. The conferences in Newark, NJ, Hollywood, Fl, Jerusalem, Israel, Boston, MA and Washington, D.C., gathered hundreds of rabbonim from around the world as part of a dynamic process to draft guidelines for universally accepted conversions.

Although it does not recruit prospective converts, once prospective converts and their families are referred by a recognized beis din or rabbi, EJF provides them with support for their education and mentoring.

EJF offers a limited number of stipends for rabbinic students who wish to participate in a study program on the halachos of conversion.

EJF sponsors a series of seminars for intermarried couples who are committed to the conversion process. Couples are generally accompanied by the rabbis involved in their conversion who must register the couple. Couples must abide by halachic guidelines in participating in these seminars.

EJF recognizes that many couples undergoing the process of a halachic conversion may have difficulty in paying fees by the Beis Din performing their conversion. EJF offers support to such couples to facilitate their conversion at a recognized beis din.

EJF is working on a central registry of halachic conversions performed by recognized Batei Din at its central offices. This enables couples to provide proof of their halachic conversions and is an important resource for rabbis absorbing such couples into their communities.

EJF publishes periodic newsletters on the organization's activities as well as on halachic and contemporary issues regarding intermarriage conversions. These newsletters are dispatched to rabbis and kiruv professionals involved in halachic conversions.

EJF's Israel Division publishes a halachic journal that includes a halachic forum on conversion and pertinent teshuvos on issues related to conversion.

EJF sponsors the appearance of leading rabbanim to speak on intermarriage conversions in your community. These prestigious speakers either address conversions or efforts to prevent intermarriage.

An important activity of EJF is its ongoing coordination with recognized batei din involved in halachic conversions. This is an opportunity for the batei din to share their experiences with other rabbonim and batei din throughout the country.

In addition to spearheading efforts to reach out and work directly with rabbis and batei din involved in halachic conversions as well as intermarried couples, EJF functions as a national and international umbrella organization by networking with existing organizations and individuals already involved in intermarriage conversions. EJF also works with existing batei din and help to establish other permanent batei din throughout the U.S. to help streamline the conversion process.
